International Linkages
Education is a cable that binds men and nations. Because of the truism and validity of such statement, the College of Liberal Arts of the University of Luzon has affirmed its solid base in the global village through international linkages with the different institutions in different parts of the world.
The China Connection
In partnership with the City Government of Dagupan with Hon. Benjamin S. Lim at the helm and Dr. Mac Arthur M. Samson, Sr., President of the University of Luzon, a delegation from the University was sent to Mainland China from September 20, 2005 to September 27, 2005 for a cultural and educational observation tour and to explore the possibility of jointly undertaking noble educational projects which will include faculty and students exchange visits, technological and library assistance, among many other areas of worthy collaborative endeavors.
The delegation composed of Mr. Feluis Robert C. Samson (representing President Samson), Mr. Angel S. Reyna, Jr. (Systems Administrator), Dr. Esther B. Vedaña (Dean, College of Criminology), Judge Salvador P. Vedaña (ret), and Dr. Efren F. Abulencia, (College of Liberal Arts).
The visit included among others, cultural immersion in different parts of Mainland China particularly in Shanghai (acknowledged to be the New York of Asia), and Nanjing (acknowledged to be the Europe of Asia), which was for several times, the seat of power.
On the other hand, the higher education institutions visited where they observed the prevailing education trends and innovations include: Hohai University, Nanjing Institute of Technology, Nanjing School of Hotel & Restaurant Management and Tourism, which are all situated in Nanjing.
Kindness in Action of Alberta, Canada
A delegation consisting of 7 members came to the University of Luzon last January 9, 2006 to renew its ties with the University through meaningful extension work by conducting free dental mission to the adopted communities of different colleges of the University, the College of Liberal Arts included.
This dental mission is already an annual tradition at the University of Luzon. It started in school year 2004-2005 through the initiative of Dr. Carolina Pratumanee, UL's International Linkages Coordinator.
The delegation which stayed from January 9-12, 2006 composed of 7 members headed by Dr. Mike Myers provided humanitarian dental services to promote oral health via community-based prevention scheme.
The KIA is a non-government organization which is based in Alberta, Canada and is founded by Dr. Amil Shapka.
