The UL CENTRAL LIBRARY

Acknowledged as one of the best libraries in Region 1 by the Commission on Higher Education, the UL Central Library is considered to be the heart of the university.
According to the best authorities, the first known libraries of the world were temples and the first librarians were priests. We found in that historic character of the library the symbol with which we can rally our youth to better and constructive efforts; to bring forth a new crusade among our people to recapture values we are wantonly throwing away for unwise, transient and sometimes immoral advantages.
As such, the UL Central library is intended not to be a mere treasure house of books and publications but a power house where all useful currents of thought would radiate to provide light and heat to all those who are desirous and wiling to develop the activity of their thought and be receptive to beauty and human feelings.

THE UL RESEARCH CENTER THROUGH THE YEARS

One of the hallmarks of an excellent university is a robust of research which is surgically implanted into its system. Dr. Angel C. Alcala, former Chairman of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) once declared that "Universities differ in part from colleges, in that they stand at the forefront of knowledge generation and acquisition. It may be excusable for a college to devote its meager resources to teaching, but it is unpardonable for a university to neglect its vital research function."

HIGHLY VISIBLE RESEARCH TRADITION: A COMMITTMENT TO EXCELLENCE

The Research Center traces its humble beginnings in 1970. Like most colleges on the path towards development, the research programs and output of the then Luzon Colleges, started modestly, marching in step with the development of its other institutional areas.

The primary focus of research during the 70?s and 80?s were the cultural and social aspects of Pangasinan and the operation of local government units in the province. This was augmented by studies on how to develop structural and academic areas of the institution.
